MexiCali Biennial: Art, Actions, Exchanges since 2006

MexiCali Biennial: Art, Actions, Exchanges Since 2006 is the first comprehensive publication chronicling nearly two decades of binational, interdisciplinary programming along the California–Mexico border. Produced in collaboration with the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art and Culture, this bilingual (English/Spanish) catalogue celebrates the MexiCali Biennial’s legacy of showcasing underrepresented artists and cross-border dialogue.

Featuring over 150 artists working in media ranging from experimental video and conceptual installations to large-scale sculpture, social practice, and provocative borderland performances, the Biennial has staged critical interventions in galleries, museums, private residences, swap meets, and public spaces. The publication includes scholarly essays by leading curators and scholars, in-depth artist-curator dialogues, and vibrant image galleries that capture the ingenuity and innovation of each thematic cycle.
