DESCRIPTION:Artist Isidro Pérez García explores his familial connection to the way of life and the cosmos contained in the maguey plant through pulque. Pérez García has created a large scale table and chairs for participants to utilize\, creating a setting that is playful and indicative of folk artistry. DESCRIPTION:The MexiCali Biennial presents a solo exhibition by artist Beliz Iristay at Instituto de Investigaciones Culturales – Museo UABC (IIC Museo UABC). Iristay has created a multi-media gallery installation titled Ruta Sin Vino consisting of cast resin rods with recycled grape vines\, metal hooks\, fishing line and photo mural. SUMMARY:BORDER ACTIVATIONS - EDT 3.0 and Annabel Turrado
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon of performances on the border.\n1:00 – 3:00 P.M. PST\nAnnabel Turrado will carry out a durational performance by shaving a large block of ice using a raspador\, a tool commonly used to make Mexican style snow cones called raspados. This is the artist’s literal translation of abolishing ICE (acronym for Immigration and Customs Enforcement)\, the immigrant detention system that has affected many Latinx communities.\nElectronic Disturbance Theater 3.0 (EDT 3.0)\n2:00 – 3:00 P.M. PST\nEDT 3.0 will enact a performance that can be viewed from either side of the border fence. Serving as a final act in a 3-part play\, the group will utilize drones and audio components to create an opera to address cautionary technological advancements within the agricultural field. \nLocations: Av.
