Expanding the Borders of Art: Creative Collaborations with the MexiCali Biennial and the Library of Congress

We are pleased to announce our collaboration with the Library of Congress, Hispanic Reading Room. Information can be found on the LoC “Four Corners of the World” Blog featuring MB artists Homeless (Cristian Franco and Felipe Monzano), Skylar Haskard, Luis G. Hernandez, Susana Rodriguez, Ed Gomez, Mike Rogers, Veronica Duarte, Marycarmen Arroyo Macias, Sandy Rodriguez, Carmina Escobar and Edna Avalos. Under the guidance of the HRR librarians, the MB hopes to contextualize its biennial programs and participating artist works within the broader art historical canon of American, Latin American, and Latinx art and draw attention to the bi-national artist communities of Alta and Baja California.

This joint initiative will launch new research guides on the art, history and culture of the U.S.-Mexico borderlands /la frontera. Click HERE to read full announcement (directs to LoC website), written by Rosalia Romero, Ph. D. and April Lillard-Gomez.
